Under the comprehensive title &#8220;Absorbing Modernity&#8221;, the national pavillons shed a light on the modernization that took place during the past hundred years \u2013 a modernization which questioned, challenged and finally transformed the various national cultures. Meanwhile, the exhibition called &#8220;Elements&#8221; which is on display in the Biennale Pavillon scrutinizes the elements of architecture, ranging from the archaic wall to the suspended ceiling. Finally, the &#8220;Monditalia&#8221; show, located in the Arsenale, highlights the discrepancies between a glorious past and the contemporary challenges which Italy, like many other nations, currently has to face.
