In the mid-1990s, he began putting together the world\u2019s most significant and representative collection of Chinese art. As a business journalist, entrepreneur, and Swiss ambassador to China, North Korea, and Mongolia (1995\u20131998), he had an unprecedented view behind the scenes of China\u2019s social and economic developments as it charted its vision of a new Silk Road dedicated to both tradition and the future.
