About the event on January 23:
The panel talk ‘Sustainable infrastructure development in Switzerland and Europe: promoting innovation and overcoming the challenges posed by existing systems and regulatory complexity’ will take place as part of the book presentation of Novalis 2029. The author, Michael Schindhelm, will take the opportunity to step out of the narrative level of his work and initiate a concrete discussion. Together with four high-profile guests, he will discuss key issues in sustainable infrastructure development, such as how to promote innovation while overcoming the hurdles of existing systems.
The focus of the talk is on how future needs and societal demands can be met through targeted infrastructure strategies. Schindhelm and his guests will reflect on the contribution that engineering can make to sustainable development and how strategic projects help to make societies more resilient and future-proof. They will also discuss how regulatory complexity can be overcome to implement innovative solutions more efficiently. After the narrative ‘time leap’ within Novalis 2029, the focus is on a realistic future in which innovative solutions in the field of infrastructure can have a concrete impact on the world.
The audience thus has the opportunity to gain both inspiring impulses and concrete solutions by combining narrative fiction with real-world issues.
Panelists: Janina Zerbe (Creative Director and Partner KHR Architecture, Denmark), Philipp Urech (Architect, Lecturer and Researcher in the Resilient Blue-Green Infrastructures module at the Future Cities Laboratory Global at ETH Zurich), Guido Biaggio (Deputy Director & Head of Division Infrastructure ASTRA) and Cristina Pagani (Member Executive Board & Chief Regional Officer – DACH – ARX).
