• ZHdK Lectures on Global Culture: The "Soft Power" of India and China

This website documents an essential part of my work since the 1990s in various nations and contexts. Whether working as a director of theatre and opera, a cultural advisor, filmmaker or librettist, my motives have always been and remain those of the writer: to observe and to tell.

The website forges connections between seemingly unrelated topics and spaces. It ranges, for example, from the life of a student in the Soviet Union of the 1980s to a social experiment on a utopian island; from the political collapse of a German electoral candidate to the gold rush in Dubai; from overtone singing in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert to a ghostly interlude in the reality of North Korea.

The website presents the work in three categories of time. They are embodied in the
Past (Archive), the Present and the Future (Magazine).
