The Camel on the Runway
Novella
After his application to be a Lufthansa flight attendant is ignored, a no-longer-so-young German daydreamer decides to open his own travel agency specializing in trekking tours through Mongolia. His target group: post-68’ers wary of consumption but well-to-do. Once in the Mongolian desert, however, all bets are off. The journey through the Gobi becomes a journey to the end of the world.
Somewhere between Britney Spears songs and Khöömii overtone singing, yurts and socialist housing estates, indifferent camels and horse cadavers, Buddhist monks and tourists from Marburg, his dream of owning his own travel agency is lost amid music and magic‚ and the flight from civilization threatens to end absurdly, bizarrely, in a glacial valley at the heart of the Gobi Desert.
