“The fall of 1989 appears grey and pale in light of current politics. Remembrance routines unbelievably mask the ongoing depression. The longer I am away from Germany, the more I get to see this successful, introverted country through the lens of others. Therefore, I don’t share the depression which hangs over our memories like a dark cloud nor the indifference towards these disappearing memories.”
