Michael Schindhelm | BIRD’S NEST – HERZOG & DE MEURON IN CHINA

Bird’s Nest – Herzog & de Meuron in China

Building between two cultures, two architectural traditions, two political systems. This documentary film from Christoph Schaub and Michael Schindhelm follows different projects undertaken in China by Basel’s star architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron: the “National Stadium” for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and the construction of an entire city district in Jinhua. In the one case, Herzog & de Meron’s designs serve China’s international stepping out; in the other, they serve a population’s everyday needs.

A film by Christoph Schaub and Michael Schindhelm.
