Venice, August 1st > 17th – The fourth Weekend Special, titled FRIDAY IN VENICE. A TRANSMEDIA SPECULATION ABOUT A POSSIBLE EUROPE, is coordinated by the German writer and cultural advisor MICHAEL SCHINDHELM. A series of interactive shows, performance and conversations on the near future of some of the most debated subjects of European politics will take place within the exhibition Monditalia at the Corderie of Arsenale, on the following weekends: August 1st > 3rd, August 9th > 10th and August 16th > 17th.

Friday in Venice  is an interactive project which started in May at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, and consists of a book publication, a website (www.lavapolis.com), an installation and performances all dedicated to a collective reflection on the political and social status of Europe and Italy involving architects, designers, actors, writers, students and online and offline audiences from various countries. The 14th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia will become its major platform of exchange.

The Weekend Specials programme is conceived as part of the exhibition Monditalia and is developed in several forms: documentary, workshop, conference, debate and performance.

Essential part of the MEETINGS ON ARCHITECTURE, organized by la Biennale di Venezia, the Weekend Specials, along with the Freeport (organized by the participating countries), enrich the six months Exhibition with a wide programme of events that will animate the space of the Corderie at the Arsenale (complete calendar: http://www.labiennale.org/it/calendario).
