Michael Schindhelm | LECTURE AT THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON CULTURAL ARCHITECTURE IN CHINA

Lecture at the International Symposium on Cultural Architecture in China

By the end of October, Michael Schindhelm will give a lecture at the International Symposium on Cultural Architecture in China. Entitled “Reshaping the City’s Identity through Culture”, the lecture will scrutinize case studies from Berlin, Dubai and Hong Kong, revealing both similarities and differences.

The symposium, taking place at Beijing’s CAFA Art Museum on October 24/25, will mainly focus on three questions: Firstly, the participants will have a look at the way cultural architecture shapes the country image. Secondly, the contributions shed light at the question if cultural architecture can be more than places for high culture, but actually serve as collective spaces for public activities. Finally, the symposium will discuss architectural education as cultural studies.
