Twenty Years later – The new Playhouse of Theater Basel
In January 2002, a new playhouse was opened under the leadership of Michael Schindhelm, then artistic director of the Theater Basel. One of the spectacular things about it was the local commitment to financial donations for the construction: over 400 Basel residents contributed more than 20 million Swiss francs to the building development.
This year, the theatre celebrated its twentieth anniversary. Michael Schindhelm discussed the relevance of theatre today with current theatre-makers and the head of culture of Basel-Stadt.
