Film ROOTS to be broadcasted at Swiss TV three times during Art Basel
Following the successful exhibition ROOTS at the KBHG in Basel and the ARMA Museum in Ubud (Bali), as well as a major series of film screenings from 2024 to 2026, the TV version of the film ROOTS will once again be shown on Swiss television SRF.
Dates: Sternstunde Kunst (SRF Info) June 16 (1:05 p.m.) and June 19 (8:35 p.m.) as well as SRF 1 on June 20 (9:35 a.m.).
The film tells a cinematic untold story about Bali, the island’s rise to become a global tourism paradise, and the desperate efforts of its inhabitants to preserve their culture. 98 years after the painter Walter Spies first visited the island of Bali, his spirit returns to the island. However, tourism and modernity also arrived on the island with Spies. The film tells a story about Bali that has never been told on film: its rise as a global tourism paradise and the desperate efforts of its people to preserve their cultural identity amid the frenzy of globalization.
